The Children's Department provides services and programs for children through Grade 6

Mother's Day Craft for Kids
Thursday, May 9th, 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Kids aged 5-8, stop by the Children's Craft Room between 4 and 5 p.m. and make a bouquet of lovely cupcake paper flowers for Mom on her special day! Teens from the library's Teen Advisory Board will be there to help you get started. No registration necessary.

American Girls Book Club
Monday, May 13th, 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Be a part of our book club for Ages 7 – 10! Each month we will discuss a different American Girl and will make a craft or play a game associated with the time period. Refreshments will be provided. Books will be available for checkout in the Children’s Department. This month we are featuring Julie. You may read any (or all) of the American Girl Books about Julie. Registration is required. R.E.A.D. with Gracie
Wednesday, May 15st, 5:00 pm - 6:45 pm
Struggling or reluctant readers between the ages of 5-10 will have the opportunity to practice reading out loud with Gracie, a certified Reading Education Assistance Dog. Gracie is accompanied by her handler. Children may bring a book to read from home or pick one out from the library beforehand. Each child is limited to one (1) appointment per session, maximum of two (2) sessions. After the child signs up for two (2) sessions, they may be placed on a waiting list for additional dates.
This event requires an appointment. To schedule a time, please stop by the Children's ervices Desk or call the Children's Department at (203) 452-2850, ext. 4.

Appointments are strictly 15 minutes (limit of seven participants per session).

Drop-In Craft for Kids
Saturday, May 18th, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Come in and enjoy a parent & child drop-in craft. Materials will be available at the Children's desk. All ages are welcome! Crafts TBA.

Kids Movie Matinee
Saturday, May 18th, 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Bring your own snacks and join us for an entertaining animated film about a young Parisian girl whose cat leads her to unravel an exciting mystery. Rated PG.

TAB Sleepytime Stories for 3 - 5 year olds
Monday, May 20th, 6:30 pm - 7:15 pm
Come in p.j.s and join our Teen Advisory Board members for stories, crafts, and activities. Each week will focus on a different theme for five sessions: April 1, 15, 29 and May 6 and 20. No registration needed.

Lego Club
Saturday, May 25th, 10:30 pm - 12:00 pm
Calling all kids ages 6 - 12! Do you like to create with Legos? Come to the EWML Lego Club! We have plenty of donated Legos, so join us in the Children's Department for some exciting building fun! Each child is responsible for breaking down their own creations. This month's optional building theme is "Machines". No registration required.
