Who the Friends of the Library Are

The Friends of the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, unaffiliated with the Town of Monroe, whose purpose is to benefit the Library. The Friends sponsors many activities, including periodic book sales and ongoing fundraising for the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library. The Friends also provides supplemental funds to the Library for books, materials, programs, and special projects. The free museum pass program at the Library is sponsored by the Friends. The Friends has an elected Board of Directors and holds periodic meetings to plan activities.

Donations made to the Friends of the Library are tax deductible.

Please note, while we appreciate all donations, we ask that you consider making your donation unrestricted (i.e. “where the need is greatest”).  Due to collection needs and Materials Selection policies, it can be very difficult to fulfill unique requests.

A letter of acknowledgment will be sent to all donors for tax purposes.

Dues:

Individuals — $15
Seniors — $10
Family — $25
Contributor — $50 – $99
Benefactor — $100 or more/Limited edition gold Wheeler pin
Non-Monroe Resident — $30

Meeting Dates – All Friends meetings have been cancelled until further notice 

All meetings are held on *Tuesdays in the library’s Rotary Room at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.


Volunteer Opportunities

The Friends of The Edith Wheeler Memorial Library are always looking for volunteers to help with fundraising and the book sale. If you are interested in volunteering, leave your name and phone number with a library staff member at the front desk, and a member of the Friends will contact you.
