Local History

The Monroe Historical Society houses its collection at the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library. Access to this collection is by appointment only.
The library has its own collection of local information that is available to the public during regular library hours.

The Edith Wheeler Memorial Library retains copies of several municipal publications. Included in the collection are the following:

• Issues of the Monroe Courier from 1972 to the present
• Books and news clippings on the history of the town
• The Code of the Town of Monroe
• Town of Monroe Annual Reports
• Town Charters
• Minutes for Town Council Meetings, Planning and Zoning Commission Meetings, and Library Board Meetings
• Town Plan of Development
• Annual Budgets
• Masuk High School Yearbooks
